Torus Foundation pledges support to young people by investing in Warrington Youth Zone

Torus Foundation, the charitable arm of North West growth and regeneration group Torus, has pledged its support for young people from Warrington for years to come, by becoming a founder patron of Warrington Youth Zone.

As the largest provider of affordable housing in Warrington, Torus already has deep roots in the Borough and, offers wide-ranging support to families, individuals and entire communities based on life-changing initiatives in health and wellbeing, employment and skills and much more.

A big part of the work of Torus Foundation is centered around giving young people real opportunities that grow confidence and raise aspirations. By supporting the new Warrington Youth Zone, the Foundation is actively helping to provide young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

Currently under construction, Warrington Youth Zone is a brand-new youth charity which will be open to young people aged 7-19 and up to 25 for those with additional needs. The Youth Zone will build on a success and legacy of Warrington Youth Club which was established in 1930.

The aim of the Youth Zone is to raise the aspirations, enhance prospects and improve health and wellbeing for young people in Warrington, by providing affordable access to a wide range of programmes, services and activities including sports, arts, music, media, dance, drama, mentoring and much more.

The Youth Zone also has a dedicated enterprise and employability suite, which aims to support young people who are not in education, employment or training, by equipping them with skills for the future.

By becoming a Founder Patron, Torus Foundation will support the Youth Zone’s annual running costs, for the next four years. Ensuring young people have access to new and exciting opportunities as well as important support services.

Kate Shone, Managing Director at Torus Foundation said: “Torus Foundation is proud to be investing in the new Warrington Youth Zone, whose plans and aspirations align with our mission for stronger communities. It’s vital that young people have more opportunities like this to access safe and supported spaces. With experience of enhancing our own facility in Liverpool, we’ve seen first-hand that activities which entertain, educate, inspire, build skills and confidence will not only have a positive impact on young people but the wider community. Exciting times ahead for Warrington.”

Dave McNicholl, Chief Executive at Warrington Youth Zone said: “I would like to offer my thanks to everyone at Torus Foundation for their valuable and generous commitment to Warrington’s young people. As a charity, the Youth Zone relies heavily on the support of local businesses and to have Torus Foundation join our family of Founder Patrons takes us one step closer to creating a fantastic facility for young people. It is with great thanks to organisations like this that we are able to open with first-class offer, supporting Warrington’s young people for generations to come.”
