Satellite Club Youth Worker

Job Title: Satellite Club Youth Worker

Hours: Friday evening from 4.30p.m. – 8.30p.m.

Satellite Club Youth Worker

Warrington Youth Zone has “Satellite” youth clubs within the community, offering a youth work provision for young people that is closer to home and easier for them to access. These are typically based within local community centres and they do their best to offer everything that is available at the Youth Zone in the town centre.

The clubs offer a wide range of activities, from sports, games and challenges to arts, crafts and baking. As a member of the team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme, making it a fun and safe environment for them to be themselves and explore skills.

The post holder will be responsible for creating a lively, dynamic, creative and fun-loving environment for all young people, whilst also creating space for young people to explore and discuss some of the big issues of the day.

HOURS:

We are recruiting 2 Youth Workers to work on a Friday evening from 4.30p.m. – 8.30p.m. (transport to and from the satellite venue is available from Warrington Youth Zone.)

CONTRACT:

These are fixed term positions available until 31st August 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver outreach activities to connect with young people in various community settings, that are exciting, safe, varied, innovative, developmental and directly responds to the diverse needs, concerns and interests of the young people.
  • Build relationships with at-risk youth and provide individualised support to address and support their needs.
    Organise and facilitate group activities, workshops and events to promote positive youth engagements with the most hard to reach young people of Warrington.
Work collaboratively with police, local authority, business owners and other members of the community, to coordinate resources and service requirements relating to young people.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of youth participants and report interventions, successes and challenges of the programme to the funders.
Be a role model for young people and present a positive “can do” attitude.
Understand the principles of working with children and young people, the issues affecting their lives and knowledge of their needs, specifically in a street-based capacity.
To directly deliver a high-quality programme of activity
To establish positive relationships with children and young people.
To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times.
Be an advocate for Warrington Youth Zone, demonstrating the values at all times.
Respond appropriately to a variety of situations, including reporting to emergency services where necessary.
Be a presence across Warrington whilst on shift, representing Warrington Youth Zone in all boroughs.
Have a knowledge of relevant agencies and services in order to signpost young people to the right support for them.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Together with the Junior Club Manager you will develop and implement a recreational programme that is exciting, challenging and ever-changing for young people aged between 7 and 12 years old.  To provide activities to allow young people to engage in positive play opportunities

      To ensure that the members maintain a high standard of behaviour and discipline during sessions by making the area a hub of activity and fun.

      To ensure the participation of young people in activities and ensure that their ideas contribute fully in the delivery of activities in a safe way.

      To be able to think on your feet and create a fun activity with minimal equipment.

      To promote cultural cohesion and inclusion and proactively challenge any prejudice and discrimination

Catering Role

Job Title: Catering Role

Catering Role

Warrington Youth Zone has its own catering kitchen and Café. We not only serve our members but also cater for events and conferences. Our amazing £1 meal offer is available every single day in the youth zone. We are looking for someone to join the team to work in the kitchen and serve in the Café. This role does require a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate although we can support successful candidates to achieve this.

HOURS:

Typical shifts are:

Mon, Wed, Fri: 16:30-20:30
Tue, Thu: 15:30-19:30
Sat: 11:00–15:00 and 16:30–20:30

Ideally a minimum of 9 hours per week but we can be flexible so please discuss with us.

CONTRACT:

Age dependent National Minimum Wage

Pension contribution of 3% once the earnings threshold is reached.

Hourly staff – annual leave will be calculated at 14% of hours worked on a rolling basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To undertake the preparation of food and beverages served in the café area as well for events and conferences.
  • To serve food and beverage to our members, ensuring they receive a great level of customer service.
  • To ensure all Health & Safety and Environmental Health requirements are adhered to, namely:
  • reporting of all faulty equipment
  • reporting of any health & safety issues
  • compliance with food hygiene regulations, in particular ensuring food is stored appropriately and at correct temperatures, and record all high-risk food temperatures on delivery and prior to service
  • all kitchen equipment, storage areas and surfaces are cleaned and sanitised, floors are swept and mopped, as necessary.
  • Report any kitchen equipment faults or need for repair
  • To assist with the production of and costing of menus.
  • To comply with stock control procedures.
  • To assist with the ordering and control of all stock
  • Cash handling in line with financial procedures.
  • Undertake such other additional duties which may result from changing circumstances.

Reception and Administration Support

Job Title: Reception and Administration Support

Hours: Typical contracts range from 8 -24 hours a week

THE ROLE

A vital front of house role, the reception is the first point of contact for Youth Zone members (children and young people aged 7 -19 years, up to 25 for those with additional needs) and their parents.

You will be a key part of a welcoming and highly professional team who are positive about young people and will ensure that the Youth Zone functions to its maximum potential.

Working across Warrington Youth Zone’s various sessions, you will be responsible for giving children and young people who wish to access the Youth Zone a warm welcome. You will be based in the reception area, ensuring young people safely enter and exit the Youth Zone, supporting vulnerable members sensitively as required. You will ensure that the Youth Zone database is used to accurately record the attendance of young people and take and record payments for sessions. You will manage phone calls and enquiries, recording and sharing information with relevant colleagues both effectively and efficiently.

Warrington Youth Zone is open 7 days a week and the reception team cover sessions which run:

  • Monday 4.45 – 9.15p.m.
  • Tuesday 3.45 – 8.15p.m.
  • Wednesday 4.45 – 9.15p.m.
  • Thursday 3.45 – 8.15p.m.
  • Friday 4.45 – 9.15p.m.
  • Saturday 11.45 – 4.15p.m.
  • Saturday 4.45 – 9.15p.m.
  • Sunday 10.45 – 3.15p.m.
  • Sunday 3.45 – 8.15p.m.

We have a variety of shifts available from the list above.  Please note weekend availability is essential.

GENERAL INFORMATION

A range of part time & sessional positions are available, weekday evening and all weekend.  Typical contracts range from 8 -24 hours a week

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Volunteer Collection Box Coordinator/Driver

Job Title: Volunteer Collection Box Coordinator/Driver

Hours: Suggested time commitment - 8 hours per week

THE ROLE

As a charity, we depend heavily on the generosity of our Community, and collection boxes are a great way of gathering small donations from local venues and building relationships and awareness, which can lead to significant support over time. This role will require a confident and organised individual, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work from their own initiative with a proactive approach.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT TO BE DOING?

• Research into local businesses for collection box placements.
• Making contact with businesses to ask about placements.
• Use of our internal database to store and record information about box placements
• Have a basic understanding of charity law around collections and donations.
• Building positive relationships with local business owners.
• Manage the Youth Zones stock of collection aids.
• Regular contact with box placements to understand when they may need emptying or replacing.
• Stewardship, sending letters of thanks and certificates with donation amounts to vendors as required
• Cash handling and associated processes.
• Liaising with the Volunteer Driver about locations and details.
