Hundreds join Warrington Youth Zone to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year

Warrington Youth Zone hosted hundreds of people from across the local community earlier this month, as part of celebrations for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

The Youth Zone, which first opened its doors in 2022, offered a range of Lunar New Year-inspired activities as it welcomed families from Warrington and the surrounding areas for a day of celebration to ring in the Year of the Dragon.

Attendees were able to get stuck into numerous activities, from table tennis and fan making to Chinese performances and a special martial arts showcase.

The Youth Zone runs themed events throughout the year in its purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility for the town’s young people.

Warrington Youth Zone is open seven days a week, providing fun-filled activities for young people aged 7-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs – all led by a team of highly-skilled and enthusiastic youth workers.

The Lunar New Year celebration event was the latest run by the Youth Zone, with more family events planned throughout 2024..

Discussing the success of the day, Warrington Youth Zone chief executive Dave McNicholl said: “Family days like our Lunar New Year celebration are a real highlight of the Youth Zone’s calendar.

“It was fantastic to open our doors to so many people from across Warrington and the surrounding areas. The young people and their families were able to get stuck into lots of Chinese-inspired activities, and the feedback we received during and after the event made the day extra special.

“As the Youth Zone continues to support everyone from across the local community, we are excited to be able to announce more events like this as the year progresses.”
